Media Seminars at AIDS 2008
(Open to all journalists attending AIDS 2008)
At previous International AIDS Conferences, we have received many requests for briefing and training seminars open to all journalists attending the conference. As a result, we are pleased to offer dedicated activities for members of the media who will be attending AIDS 2008. The aim of these activities is to build and enhance knowledge and a deeper understanding of the various, and often complex, issues associated with HIV/AIDS.
Two seminars are planned
Reporting HIV/AIDS - Issues and Concerns
A one-day seminar for the media will be held on Sunday, 3 August 2008 in Press Conference Room 1 of the media centre. The seminar, which will take place over the entire day, will provide opportunities for participants to interact with international media trainers and other experts on issues and ethics of journalism related to reporting on HIV/AIDS.
Technical Briefings on HIV/AIDS
A two-hour evening session will be held on Monday, 4 August 2008 in the media centre. The session, specially designed for members of the press, will consist of short, focussed and simplified capsules presented by experts on technical issues associated with HIV/AIDS. The session will also afford opportunities for journalists to interact with the experts. Information kits for each theme will be provided.
