PLEASANTON CITY NOTICES

Fire Hydrant Flushing: The Utilities Division will be flushing hydrants in the City of Pleasanton beginning Thursday, February 16, 2012. Hydrant flushing will take place Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed throughout the year as weather and water demand allows.

Flushing allows the Utilities Division to remove rust and sediment from water lines and to perform testing of fire hydrants for public safety. In addition, it allows the Division to identify hydrants in need of maintenance. Due to the hydrant flushing, it is possible that some residents will receive rust-colored water that could stain laundry, but it is safe to drink. You should check for signs of discoloration prior to washing clothes. If the water is discolored when you turn on your tap, simply run the water until it is clear.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. For any questions and up-to-date hydrant flushing information, please call our Public Works office at 830-569-3155 or City Hall at 830-569-3867

Water Restrictions: The City is returning to the usual irrigation schedule of three days per week based on the address:  even numbers may water on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, odd numbers may water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The hours for using sprinklers are midnight to 11 am, and 7 pm to midnight on your designated days.  These conditions may change due to extreme use or when there are problems with any of our wells.

Brush and bulky waste - may be taken to the Wastewater Treatment Plant on March 3, 2012 for disposal.  Hours are 10 am to 2 pm and a recent City utility bill is required to be allowed to leave materials there.  The first pickup load of brush is free, with further loads costing $20 each.  Each pickup load or trailer load of bulky waste costs $20 to dump.  Free mulch is available at the plant.  The next City wide cleanup begins April 16 - May 4, 2012,  and residents are allowed to place items at the curb no earlier than two weeks before the trucks are in your neighborhood.  We appreciate the cooperation of our residents and businesses in keeping Pleasanton beautiful.

Sanitary Sewer Notice-The City of Pleasanton began cleaning sanitary sewer mains on 6/17/2011. These sanitary sewer lines are cleaned using high performance sewer cleaning equipment. For more notice information please click here to download pdf.

For Sale- The City of Pleasanton is selling recycled material, which could contain base material and/or asphalt, at a cost of $10.00 per truckload.  The material is located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 550 E. Hunt St., and will be loaded by City equipment to buyer’s trucks.  Arrangements for the loading must be scheduled with Sharon at the Public Works Office, 830-569-3155, and the payment made in advance of pickup of the materials.
